The Seven Generals of Helena

The city of Helena “provided” seven generals to the Confederate Army: Patrick Cleburne, Lucius Polk, Archibald Dobbins, Thomas Hindman, James Tappan, Daniel Govan, and Charles Adams. In truth, these men did not all live in Helena but conducted business there. Plus, “Seven Generals” rolls off the tongue nicely. This exhibit examines their lives and connections to the local area.
